The battle of who gets crowned for the 2022/23 Uganda Premier League will take yet another turn as Vipers SC hosts KCCA FC at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Friday.

It will be third against second as Vipers and KCCA have so far tallied 42 and 45 points respectively.

However, the Venoms have played a game less than their opponent.

“If we get our best performance, I think we can do it,” said head coach Alex Isabirye to the club media.

“It will be a special, special match, at St Mary’s Stadium with our supporters,”he added.

We lost 1-0 when we visited them at the MTN Omondi Stadium in the first round, but Isabirye is confident his troops will give it a real go.

“They will give me everything they’ve got, you can’t doubt them in terms of application and commitment.”

“They are desperate to change things and push till the last day of the League.”

Vipers returned to winning ways on Tuesday when they comfortably beat Gaddafi FC 2-0, and the gaffer wants the boys to build on that.

“The atmosphere for the Gaddafi game was superb, we were aggressive and on the front foot, so we need all those ingredients again to get the win we need.”

“We have a lot of talent and a lot of ability. I believe we’ll get there, and we’re certainly working every minute to get to those consistent levels.”

It has been 21 previous league meetings between the two, dating back ten years ago, to the 2012/13 season.

The Venoms have picked nine victories against KCCA’s five. Seven meetings have ended in stalemates.

It ended in a two-all draw when the two sides met at St Mary’s Stadium last season, with Bobosi Byaruhanga and Cesar Manzoki on the score-sheet.
