UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
Saturday’s Result
SC Villa 1-0 Vipers SC
Vipers SC suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to table leaders SC Villa in the Uganda Premier League on Saturday, at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
We stayed third with 39 points in 21 games. We trail Villa by seven points but we have played three games fewer.
Charles Bbaale netted in the 34th minute and we didn’t find a way to get a positive result.
Villa threatened in the 30th minute and Bbaale drew an excellent save from our goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora after a headed effort.
In the 37th minute, we nearly got a leveler but Bright Anukani’s shot from distance was saved by Meddie Kibirige.
As half-time loomed, play was interrupted as defender Livingstone Mulondo got stretchered off after suffering a concussion.
We returned in the second stanza a much better team, and in the 58th minute, Karim Watambala’s shot from distance was saved by Meddie Kibirige.
Our best chance, fell to Karim Ndugwa, but the forward’ headed effort kissed the crossbar after a Martin Kizza cross.
Vipers will hope for an instant turnaround amends on Tuesday when we play host to Gaddafi FC at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
