UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
The Date: April 25th, 2023
The Contest: Arua Hill vs. Vipers SC
The Time: 4pm
The Venue: Barifa Stadium, Arua
Vipers SC will be looking to bounce back from Saturday’s one-all stalemate with URA FC, to fight for all points against Arua Hill SC on Tuesday.
The Barifa Stadium bout provides the Venoms a chance to cover more ground on the Uganda Premier League table.
At the moment, we sit third with 36 points, five adrift of runners-up KCCA FC and seven behind leaders SC Villa, with the two playing two and four games more, respectively.
However, head coach Alex Isabirye is only focused on the next game.
“Big game for us. Massive game – and difficult as well, Arua Hill away,” said Alex Isabirye in an interview with the club media.
“I don’t count the points distance between us and them but we have to go for it.”
Tomorrow’s opponents have won two games on the bounce and Isabirye is well-aware of this fact and what is at stake.
“We know it is difficult, we all know Arua Hill is a side that is well-organised, defending an extremely high level and counter-attacking is a massive thing.”
“Arua Hill is in a good moment, they beat Villa away and over the weekend defeated Gaddafi. So, they are now confident and strong.”
We edged the reverse fixture in the first round 1-0, courtesy of skipper Milton Karisa’s solitary goal.
The Venoms have also won one other meeting with the Leopards since the latter joined the topflight last season.
At the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende we ran out comfortable 3-1 winners, thanks to Cesar Manzoki, Yunus Sentamu and Karisa.
Arua Hill, however, won the Barifa encounter last season 1-0, with Alfred Leku getting the sole goal.
Team News:
Karim Watambala and Bright Anukani are both fully back and passed fit. They in contention if chosen to face Arua Hill SC.
Milton Karisa who ended the game against URA FC worse for wear, with the skipper forced off at half-time having battled through the opening 45 minutes despite being ill is available for tomorrow’s encounter.
While Yunus Sentamu who limped off in the 42nd minute started his rehabilitation process and Isabirye is hopeful he’ll have his striker fit and available for the visit to SC Villa on Saturday.
Apart from long term absentees; Murushid Juuko and Alfred Mudekereza, Isabirye has a fully fit 20-man squad to choose from.
