UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE

Wednesday’s Result

UPDF FC 0-1 Vipers SC

Vipers SC picked a hard-fought 1-0 victory over UPDF FC in the Uganda Premier League on Wednesday at the Bombo Military Barracks Ground.

The win could prove pivotal in the title chase as both runners-up KCCA FC and table-toppers SC Villa both dropped points on the day.

Despite staying third with 35 points, we made good ground on the table as we are now just three and eight points behind KCCA and Villa respectively.

It’s important to note that Alex Isabirye’s team has played two games less than the runners-up, and four fewer than the leaders.

On the evening, as early as the second minute, we got the opener as Milton Karisa’s cross was turned into the net by goalkeeper Emmanuel Were, before the former had the goal awarded to him.

In the 15th minute, Abubakar Lawal’s effort was cleared off the line by Douglas Oyirworth to deny us a second goal.

Collosal defender Hilary Mukundane then made a timely intervention to repulse an Ivan Ahimbisibwe attack.

In the 55th minute, the hosts nearly scored the equalizer but Ahimbisibwe had his shot excellently saved by Fabien Mutombora.

Livingstone Mulondo was in the right place at the right time in the 94th minute as he cleared the ball off the line, to win us all the points.

At the hour-mark, Karisa should have added our second but his half-volley missed the target by a whisker.

We will return to league action with a St Mary’s Stadium encounter against URA FC on Saturday under the lights.
