UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
The Date: April 8th, 2023
The Contest: Vipers SC Vs Blacks Power FC
The Time: 7pm
The Venue: St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende
In a bid to bounce back from a disappointing two-all draw against Maroons FC last time out, Vipers SC battle Blacks Power FC at the St Mary’s Stadium Kitende on Saturday.
Head Coach Alex Isabirye wants his team to lock out all the criticism and focus on achieving the team’s season objectives.
“We want to achieve something big, of course. After dropping points in our last encounter against Maroons FC a lot of people are speaking about this team and about this club but I will say no season finishes after 15 or 20 games,” a confident Isabirye said to Vipers Media.
“We still have games still in front of us, we know we have to improve a lot of things and I’m sure we will do that.”
The boss wants the entire team to stick to unity and strong as a whole.
“The other way is by staying together. A lot of people try to speak and to kill a little bit the players and the team.”
“But the strongest thing to do at the moment is to be together, and only together will we be stronger and give the results on the pitch after.”
Skipper Milton Karisa, who was visibly disappointed as his brace didn’t fetch all the points on Wednesday, expects the team to fight more on Saturday.
“I think we didn’t deserve to draw the match on Wednesday against Maroons FC. There are some things that we can do better and unfortunately there are others that we can’t and they really affect the game.”
“But we know we have to do better. We have to believe in each other so we can come out of this and tomorrow we have a chance to do so.”
Pending results elsewhere, victory tomorrow could put the Venoms up to third with 32 points.
The reverse fixture was hugely tight, but we edged it 1-0 away, courtesy of Ashraf Mandela’s strike.
