UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
Wednesday’s Result
Maroons FC 2-2 Vipers SC
Vipers SC missed a chance to go third on the table after tying two-all with Maroons FC in the Uganda Premier League, at the Luzira Prisons grounds on Wednesday.
Milton Karisa’s brace looked to give the Venoms three points but Fred Amaku and Fredrick Kigozi netted for the Prison Warders to have the tie end in a painful stalemate.
The result leaves Vipers in fourth with 30 points, ten adrift of leaders SC Villa, who have played four games more.
On the evening though, the Venoms made a positive start to the game and went in front with a ninth-minute goal, as Karisa finished off a superb Bright Anukani through ball.
The hosts then drew level with Amaku netting cleanly in the 19th minute, past goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora.
We nearly found a second immediately after restart, but Karisa’s powerful low-drive went inches wide of the post.
In the 71st minute, Karisa completed his brace, in exquisite style, with a half-volley that went past goalkeeper Emmanuel Akol for another lead.
However in the last minute of the game, Kigozi stole a point for the hosts after a powerful ball strike past Mutombora.
The Venoms will return to action on Saturday at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende against Blacks Power FC.
