Vipers SC v Simba SC

St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende

Vipers SC played out a barren stalemate with Guinea side Horoya Athletic Club at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, in what was our second game of the CAF Champions League group stages.

The Saturday display and result was visibly much better than our initial 5-0 defeat to Raja Casablanca in Morocco a week ago.

And, our head coach Beto Bianchi Pellister, who was left pleased with the show at Kitende, is convinced there’s still chance of making it out of the group.

“It was a good performance and effort from the team. You can see the difference in how we played against Raja Casablanca and here,” said Bianchi to the club media.

“I felt we played with much more intensity and speed. We created more chances than we did in earlier game. I know it is a shame we did not score again, but the goals will arrive for sure.”

“We have played against an experienced side in Horoya, but we were able to exert ourselves on the game, and that is a good sign. There are still 12 points to fight for so we try and fight for that,” the optimistic tactician added.

The Venoms will welcome regional neighbors Simba SC on Saturday, and Bianchi feels the team can only keep improving.

“Tactically I can see a lot of improvement, but it is still a journey for us but we can be confident that we are on the right path.”

“I know we still need time to adopt both the players to our methods and us learning them, but day by day we are working on the training pitch and we are improving.”

Vipers are third in Group C with one point, ahead of rock-bottom Simba. Raja and Horoya are top and second with six and four points respectively.
