Jinja North United FC v Vipers SC
Kyabazinga Stadium – Jinja | 4pm
Vipers Sports Club will be keen to quickly put behind their CAF Champions League disappointment, for a response when they take on Jinja North United FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 32.
The Venoms uncharacteristically suffered a 5-0 loss to Raja Casablanca on Friday last week, in what was a continental engagement, but will be looking for an instant turnaround of fortunes domestically against the Big League outfit, on Wednesday.
Our skipper Milton Karisa feels there is no better way to silence critics than putting up a quality show tomorrow.
“We have to live with that. It’s part of the modern game,” asserted Karisa in an interview with the club media.
“People who comment, their job is to comment, so you have to live with that. What is important is how we respond, how we analyse the game and how we respond in a united way.”
“All the rest is part of the game that you have to live with. It doesn’t help us to win or lose the next game. What helps us to win the next game is how we respond internally together. And we must respond,” he reiterated.
We eliminated Regional League side Bujumbura United, courtesy of a 4-2 penalty shootout victory to make this round.
Victory in the Eastern part of the country will put us on course of achieving our third Cup final in successive years.
Vipers’ opponents ply their trade in the second tier, and currently lie 10th with 20 points after 16 matches.
Team News:
Abdu Lumala is out of tomorrow’s game after suffering a knock in our last game against Raja Casablanca.
Too soon for Marvin Joseph Youngman who suffered a setback in his rehabilitation process.
Najib Yiga is fully back and in the 20-man squad that heads to Jinja to face Jinja North United FC.
