CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Friday’s Result
Raja Casablanca 5-0 Vipers SC
Vipers Sports Club made a CAF Champions League group stage debut to forget as they fell 5-0 to Raja Casablanca at Mohammed V Stadium on Friday.
Goals from Hamza Khabba, Jamal Harkass, Mohamed Zrida, Yousri Bouzok and Roger Aholou handed the Moroccan outfit three points at home turf.
Khabba grabbed the opener in the fifth minute after latching on a Harkass pass, six minutes before the latter found the second as he capitalized on goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza’s unfortunate error.
Zrida added a third with six minutes to the end of the first half, to cap off their dominance.
Our head coach Beto Bianchi Pellister then made a triple substitution before restart, bringing on Desire Tety, Yunus Sentamu and Olivier Osomba for Abdu Karim Watambala, Abdu Lumala and Ashraf Mandela respectively, hoping to find some lifeline.
And, despite a better display from the Venoms in the second half, Casablanca netted again in the 59th and 71st minute through Bouzok and Aholou respectively, to round off a disturbing evening for Bianchi’s troops in North Africa.
In spite of the loss though, Vipers still has an opportunity to make quick amends as we host Guinea’s Horoya Athletic Club in our second game, slated for St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Saturday, February 18th, 2023 at 4pm.
