Express FC v Vipers SC
Wankulukuku Stadium
Vipers SC will make a short trip to the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Tuesday to take on Express FC, with hope of assuming maximum points.
The Venoms will be keen to build on their last Uganda Premier League match against Onduparaka FC, a bout we won by a 4-0 thumping.
We head into the affair well knowing that victory could have us at the summit with 26 points, pending results from other matches.
We take on a side we have had absolute dominion over for the past ten seasons or so in the top-flight.
Since 2012, we have met the Red Eagles 19 times in the topflight. We have managed nine victories over three from tomorrow’s hosts, as seven have ended in stalemates.
Vipers and Express will be meeting for the 34tg time in Uganda’s league history since 2006 when the Venoms joined the top flight division. We have won 15, drawn 11 and lost 7 with a return of 41 goals against 23.
Head-To-Head:
Meetings: 33
Vipers wins: 15
Draws: 11
Losses: 7
Goals for: 41
Against: 23
Points: 56
Last season, it ended in a two-all stalemate when the two sides met at tomorrow’s venue, with Cesar Manzoki and Livingstone Mulondo on the score-sheet.
In the reverse fixture at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, Yunus Sentamu grabbed a brace as Bright Anukani netted the other in a 3-0 thrashing.
Team News:
Goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza misses out this match against Express FC after contracting malaria last week while Karim Watambala is out with a knock.
The trio of Murushid Juuko, Paul Mucureezi and Livingstone Mulondo will continue to stay sidelined due to respective injuries.
Sentamu is still out nursing a groin injury and will start rehabilitation process next week.
