Vipers SC picked a huge three points after edging URA FC 1-0 at the Nakisunga Ssaza Grounds, on Saturday.
Ibrahim Orit scored the only goal of the evening as we managed our fourth victory on the bounce this season.
It’s also the sixth game for the Venoms without defeat this season, following match-day two’s 1-0 loss to KCCA FC. In the process, we have drawn just once.
The first half wasn’t a show of a mammoth goal-scoring chances as both teams stuck to caution than taking risks in attack.
Cromwel Rwothomio had the most decent chance to break the deadlock in the 25th minute after a strong run to create space, before firing inches wide.
The home team started off the second stanza probing and threatened for an opener in the 55th minute, but Derrick Ndahiro’s powerful low-drive was brilliantly dealt with by our custodian, Alfred Macumu Mudekereza.
We found the only goal of the day in the 70th minute, with Orit’s effort taking a huge deflection on defender Benjamin Nyakoojo past Alionzi Nafian into the net.
Five minutes later, URA launched an attack in search of an equalizer, but Mudekereza was yet again excellent as he superbly saved a strong shot by Saidi Kyeyune.
The Venoms have now won four on the bounce and are third with 17 points in eight matches. They will host SC Villa on Tuesday at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende in their next match.
