CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PRELIMINARY
Saturday’s Result
Vipers SC 1-0 Olympic Real De Bangui (Agg: 4-0)
Vipers SC have made it to the First Round of the CAF Champions League after eliminating Olympic Real De Bangui, by a 4-0 aggregate.
This followed our 1-0 win at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Saturday September 17th, coupled with last week’s 3-0 victory in Congo Brazaville.

The Kitende win was courtesy of a sole Yunus Sentamu first half goal.
The Venoms started with full force, probing for an early opener and nearly got it in the fifth minute, but Sentamu missed the target by a few inches.
Three minutes later, Milton Karisa should have broken the deadlock, but he was denied by goalkeeper, Levant Paterine Gisamito.

In the 18th minute though, Sentamu was not to be denied for the umpteenth time as he latched on a good Karisa through ball, to bury the ball, and make it 1-0.
The former should have doubled the Venoms lead in the 30th minute, but he missed a seater after being set by Ashraf Mandela.

Again, Vipers were unlucky not to get another in the first half, Najib Yiga as well missed a tap-in in the 38th minute, with the keeper eventually dealing with Karisa’s grass-cutting cross.
Four minutes after restart, the home team should have added a second but, Anukani shot over the bar after being laid by Sentamu.
The visitors almost grabbed an equalizer a minute later, after a defensive mix-up, but there let it go begging as there was no one to capitalize.

The result implies Vipers shall take on former Champions League winners, TP Mazembe in the First Round.
