Pre-season friendly:

Vipers SC 1-0 Nateete United

We narrowly beat Nateete United 1-0 in a pre-season friendly, to continue preparations for the forthcoming season.

Milton Karisa, on his birthday, struck in the first half with his goal enough for the victory at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Wednesday.

The match got off to a cagey start, before our new custodian, Alfred Mudekereza was called into action in the 15th minute, to superbly thwart Simon Sserunkuma’s effort.

We got into full force and nearly grabbed the opener at the half-hour mark, but, Karisa’s header was punched clear by Nateete’s goalkeeper Zakaria Nsubuga.

Four minutes later, Cesar Manzoki struck well but his volleyed effort missed the target by a free inches as it sailed over the bar.

Two minute after, Manzoki threatened again, but his header off Bobosi Byaruhanga’s delivery went straight into the opposition goalkeeper’s gloves.

Now in full gear, the Venoms broke the deadlock in the 39th minute with Karisa meeting a well executed Bobosi cross, to send the game to rest.

14 minutes after restart, new signing Isa Mubiru let fly a superb cross, but Najib Yiga headed inches wide.

Ashraf Mandela, who is the other new acquisition, missed a sitter in the 75th minute, to leave the game at 1-0.

Two minutes later, Manzoki who had threatened all evening, was yet again superbly denied by Nsubuga.

Our preparations for the new season will continue on Thursday at St Mary’s Stadium before another friendly on Friday evening.
