Second Leg Semifinal

Vipers SC 4-0 Mbarara City FC

Vipers progress aggregate 6-1

Defending Champions Vipers SC stormed into a second successive final of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after registering an impressive 4-0 victory against Mbarara City FC at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday.

The comfortable victory followed a 2-1 first leg win in the game that was played at Kakyeka Stadium a week ago, making the aggregate 6-1.

Our captain Halid Lwaliwa, Milton Karisa, Yunus Sentamu and Bobosi Byaruhanga were on target in the memorable semifnal, to ensure the Venoms are still on course of securing a domestic double.

The first half wasn’t particularly as impressive as the second, with Cesar Manzoki’s 42nd minute header that was denied by the visitors’ goalkeeper Martin Elungat our best chance.

Ironically though, on a sad note, it was our number 9’s last piece of action after suffering what appeared to be a concussion.

After the interval, we were more clinical and Lwaliwa needed just two minutes of the second half to score, heading in a well taken Bobosi corner.

In the 59th minute, Karisa doubled the lead through a sumptuous hit to stretch our lead.

The hitman, Sentamu made it three at 66 minutes, controlling superbly a great pass from Karisa, before turning to score past Elungat.

At the death, Bobosi put the icing on the cake, getting at the end of a great Sentamu move, and to send us to the final.

The Venoms will wait on the winner between BUL and Booma who meet on Wednesday. BUL lead the tie, courtesy of a 5-1 first leg win.
