STARTIMES UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
Saturday’s Result
SC Villa 0-0 Vipers SC
Vipers SC extended their point tally to 68 points at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table after a barren stalemate with SC Villa at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Saturday.
In a relatively quiet first half, it’s the Venoms who had the better chances to break the deadlock and it nearly arrived in the fifth minute, but, Milton Karisa’s shot sailed inches wide.
Our colossus defender, Livingstone Mulondo was however later called into action to head away a threatening freekick from Sadam Masereka in the 25th minute.
We nearly scored the opener in the 34th minute but Bobosi Byaruhanga’s thunderous strike off Cesar Manzoki’s layoff moved just a whisker above the bar.
Nine minutes after the start of the second stanza, Byaruhanga threatened again, but his trademark shot sailed over the bar.
Three minutes later, our young midfielder struck again but goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige was on hand to deny him with a finger tip save.
The hosts threatened through Benson Muhindo at the hour mark, but, Mulondo made a timely and brilliant clearance off the line to keep matters levelled.
Six minutes later, it should have been a goal ahead for the Venoms but Halid Lwaliwa’s glancing header off Bright Anukani’s corner moved a few inches wide.
In the 79th minute, Karisa, with a glorious opportunity in a keeper to beat situation, only dinked his shot above the bar.
Two minutes to the 90, injury returnee Paul Willa shot from distance but Kibirige was on guard to deny him and leave matters at 0-0.
We will return to league action on May 14th against Wakiso Giants at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.
