STARTIMES UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
Tuesday’s Result
URA FC 0-3 Vipers SC
Four-time Uganda Premier League champions, Vipers SC, are beginning to scent a possible fifth after a commanding 3-0 away victory over title challengers URA FC this evening.
The result at the Arena of Visions in Ndejje moved table leaders, Vipers, to 55 points, a massive nine over second-placed KCCA with seven games to go.
The Venoms who had lost the first round game 2-0 started off this encounter the brightest and had several chances to break the deadlock early on in the game through Yunus Sentamu, but his effort was parried away for a corner by goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi in the third minute.
Disan Galiwango was also denied by Alionzi, who easily collected the left-back’s shot with ease in the 11th minute.
Vipers captain Halid Lwaliwa then pounced home the opening goal on 27 minutes after a melee resulting from a corner kick.
Talisman Cesar Manzoki doubled Vipers advantage 10 minutes later from the penalty spot after strike partner Yunus Sentamu was hacked down by URA defender Hudu Mulikyi.
The URA defender, Mulikyi, then lost Sentamu for the striker to run onto Milton Karisa’s flicked header for the third goal just after the hour mark.
Third-placed URA, clearly second best for the majority of the game, are now 12 points behind Vipers.
