STARTIMES UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE

Match: Vipers SC v Mbarara City FC

Venue: St Mary’s Stadium
Kitende

Vipers SC resume their StarTimes Uganda Premier League title hunt after the international break with the visit of a plucky Mbarara City FC fighting to stay in the top tier.

The Venoms, on 49 points, hold a six-point lead on the second-placed URA FC, albeit playing three games less.

Coach Robertinho is hoping to build on the 2-0 victory over Busoga United in the last home outing at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
Victory today will compete a double over Mbarara City having won 2-1 away at Kakyeka earlier in the season.

However, Vipers SC will be reminded of the shock 3-2 come-from-behind that today’s visitors managed at Kitende on May 18, 2021.

Field battles between the two teams started way back in the 2017/18 football season when the Ankole Lions gained promotion to the topflight league and this fixture thus marks the 10th meeting they are facing off.

Vipers commands numerical superiority over their distant opponents with 4 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses out of the previous 9 meetings having scored 10 goals against 8 conceded in the previous contests.

Youngster Umaru Kyebatala is still ruled out as he recovers from a knee injury and continues with his rehabilitation process.
