Vipers Sports Club league title chances received a huge boost yesterday when the Fufa disciplinary committee passed judgement on a petition the Venoms filed after defeat away to Tooro United.

Ecstasy engulfed St. Marys Stadium, Kitende ahead of Vipers Stanbic Uganda Cup encounter against Fufa Big League side Kataka FC as news filtered through that the Venoms had successfully won a petition over Tooro United.

”FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel has awarded three points and three goals to Vipers SC after a successful petition against Tooro United FC for fielding an ineligible player in the Startimes Uganda Premier League match between the two teams on 11.3.2022 at Buhinga Stadium.” read a statement from Fufa.

This might end up being a huge moment for Vipers in battle for the title as its destiny is now firmly in our hands with 9 matches remaining to wind up the season.

A twist in the title race had occurred when Vipers stumbled against Tooro United away in Fort Portal by losing 1-0 on a frustrating evening to give second-placed KCCA FC further hope of reducing the gap at the top.

However, the Kitara region based side had used un ineligible player Ronald Kayondo in that particular victory and when Vipers petitioned, the authorities invoked relevant regulations boosting the Venoms chances in the process.

At 49 points, the Venoms hold a numerical advantage of 7 points over second placed KCCA FC as both teams prepare to face off at Lugogo next in a match the Kasasiro boys can’t afford to lose.
