STANBIC UGANDA CUP (ROUND OF 16)
Saturday’s Result
Vipers SC 3-0 Kataka FC
Two-time Stanbic Uganda Cup champions Vipers SC stormed the last eight after a comfortable 3-0 victory over Big League side Kataka United at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Saturday.
Despite the win though, Roberto Oliveira ‘Robertinho’ conceded a few difficulties in overcoming a spirited Kataka side on a sunny afternoon.

“We played well, especially in the first half but our opponents were good especially with the ball, during the attack.”
“But, we expected their challenge so we had to prepare well since Wednesday in our last league match (against Busoga United).
The Brazilian tactician however reiterated the team’s desire to win and be champions in the Cup and the league.

“We want to be champions and that is our main target and I am glad the boys are playing well and are not disappointing.”
The hosts scored with their first chance of the match as Sentamu latched on Najib Yiga’s pass to round goalkeeper Edward Kasibante to net in an empty net.

Five minutes later, Bobosi Byaruhanga nearly doubled their lead in trademark fashion but his stinging shot from outside the box sailed a few inches wide.
Three minutes to the half-hour mark, Sentamu should have added a second but his shot in the area was not hard enough to trouble Kasibante.

At 31 minutes, Disan Ggaliwango won and took a penalty but the left-back shot straight at the custodian to miss the chance of doubling the lead.
Three minutes after the restart, Milton Karisa missed a glorious chance as he headed wide a superb Sentamu cross from close range.

At 65 minutes though, substitute Kayiwa doubled the home team’s lead through a strong half-volley that beat Kasibante to the back of the net.
With 20 minutes to play, Sentamu almost stretched the lead to three but his hard shot in the box was excellently tamed by the goalkeeper.

After substitute Mucureezi’s freekick was saved in the 85th minute, two minutes later, he headed in a Ggaliwango corner to seal the win.
