January and February were a good month in the Uganda Premier League for Vipers Sports Club, with the Venoms winning three of our six games.
After a disappointing defeat to Arua Hill SC at Barifa stadium, two points were dropped at St Mary’s stadium against Bul FC before three points were collected against SC Villa in the month of January.
It is important to note that the Pilsner Awards were not held for January given that only two matchdays were played before the league took a month’s break.
On that note, therefore, the above match days (matchday 14, 15 and 16) have been joined with matchday 17 and 18 played in February to come up with five-match days for one award.
At the start of the month of February, the Venoms put up a resilience performance to pick three points from Bul FC in Bugembe, collected maximum points from a hard fighting Arua Hill SC in Kitende before going on to share spoils with UPDF FC in Bombo.
The eleven points taken during the two months leaves the table looking rosier, with the Venoms sitting on top with 43 points from 19 games.
Our impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed, with the club receiving recognition from the Uganda Premier League in their official award nominations for January/February.
Cesar Manzoki played in all Viper’s five games played from Matchday 14 to 18 scoring thrice but managing as many assists as the Venoms registered three wins, two draws, and a loss.
Manzoki, who is being nominated for the award for the third time, was also part of the list in October and December. The Congolose magnifico is up against URA FC’s duo of Steven Mukwala and Vianne Ssekajugo.
Meanwhile head coach Robertinho is one of three nominees for the Pilsner Coach of the Month award, alongside URA FC’s Sam Timbe and KCCA FC’s Morley Byekwaso.
Robertinho, who has been nominated for the fourth straight time, has overseen an ongoing club record of scoring the highest number of goals in all competitions this season (57 goals) and is aiming to win this prize for the second time since his maiden one in December last year.
