Wednesday’s Result
Vipers SC 2-1 Soltilo Bright Stars FC
We overcame Soltilo Bright Stars FC 2-1 to stretch our lead at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League to four points on Wednesday evening.
Cesar Manzoki scored the decisive goal for us with a ferocious drive inside the area, beating goalkeeper Simon Tamale.
We could have broken the deadlock as early as the 6th minute through Milton Karisa, but, after a superb run that had him get past Tamale, he fumbled with the ball and failed to hit the target.
At 25 minutes, Karisa nearly added a second but his header off Paul Willa’s cross unluckily hit the post.
Ten minutes later, Sentamu headed inches wide to miss a second after a brilliant delivery from Disan Galiwango.
Ibrahim Kasinde had earlier in the second half cancelled out Halid Lwaliwa’s 10th minute header that gave us a first half lead.
Kisinde’s penalty followed a foul on Yasin Mugume by Bobosi Byaruhanga in the forbidden area.
We also did get a penalty after the hour when an inviting through ball from Manzoki to Yunus Sentamu saw the latter shoved to the ground by Bright Stars Warren Buule.
Byaruhanga stepped forward to take it but the Vipers midfielder missed from 12 yards.
The victory at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende moved the Venoms to 43 points, four ahead of KCCA FC, who play Express FC tomorrow.
