Najib Yiga was delighted his first Vipers SC double helped earn three points after a performance of patience against BUL FC on Wednesday.

Vipers had been thwarted in the opening 21 minutes until Yiga drew the Venoms level on 24 minutes, but that opened the game up for the youngster to fire a brace 9 minutes later. The two well-taken goals took Yiga into double figures for the season and capped a good evening’s work all round at the Kyabazinga Stadium, Bugembe.

On his two goals…

“It was amazing. All my team mates were fantastic. It’s the first time I’ve scored two goals in a game so I’m very happy for that and the team performance.

“I’m very happy to score two and I had a chance at the end, maybe I could do a bit more, but this is football, sometimes it goes in, sometimes out.”

On the patience needed…

“We were shooting and they defended all the balls, we kept working and looking for it, and it appeared.

“It’s difficult sometimes when you don’t score, but we’ll always keep going forward. I’m very happy to be part of this team and the way we won this game was fantastic.

“I’m going to be there, always, sometimes the goal appears, sometimes I have to make assists and sometimes movements can make the other score.

“It was a very tough game, but we knew how to play and we did very good things in both halves of the game.”

On the Man of the Match Award…

“I think I’m doing things well. I’m an important part of the team, so that’s given me confidence. I’m giving good performances in my two games, so I’ll keep trying to do the same in the next matches if given a chance.

“I’ve enjoyed it a lot. It’s amazing, the moment you hear the fans shouting your name. They are shouting because you score a goal, it’s an amazing feeling.

“I feel very comfortable here, so I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing to give the supporters much happiness. I think my season to the moment is good and this award means alot to me.”

On playing in the Uganda Premier League…

“It’s a dream. It’s been quite a journey to get here, a journey am really proud of. I used to watch the games when still in the Juniors league but it was amazing to watch the games, all the intensity and passion that the teams play with.

“Now, I’m here making my dream come true, so I’m going to keep working hard and doing the things to give my best to the team.”
