STARTIMES UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE

The Match: Vipers SC v URA FC
Date: November 27, 2021
Time: 3pm
Live on Sanyuka TV
Venue: St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende

It’s been a rather serene start to the season with Vipers SC winning four of the opening five games of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League season, drawing the other.

Today’s visit or URA FC to St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende offers the Venoms a chance to press home the early advantage and close the gap on leaders KCCA FC.

“Teams always increase their levels of motivation every time they play against Vipers, but we always perform well according to the conditions,” explained assistant coach Marcelo Cardoso.

“URA is different and more difficult but we are at home with very good pitch conditions and the players are prepared.”

“We are going to do everything to win the game, the players know what to do. The motivation is so high and three points is what we shall be working for, nothing less.”

Vipers SC and URA FC will be meeting for the 34th time in Uganda’s league history since 2006 when the Venoms joined the top flight division. We have won 6, drawn 12 and lost 15 with a return of 31 goals against 42.

Head-To-Head:

Meetings: 33

Vipers wins: 6

Draws: 12

Losses: 15

Goals for: 31

Against: 42

Points: 30

Vipers SC first ever victory over URA occurred on April 28, 2011 in a 2-1 win after 11 fruitless attempts and URA FC has gone on to dominate the fixture up to date hence the Venoms have a huge task at hand.

Of all the 16 teams playing in Uganda’s top flight division currently, its only URA which holds a better head to head against the Venoms as they always inflict misery on us irrespective of any form they might be in.

Vipers are occupying second position on the league log with 13 points out of the 5 matches played while URA FC are in 9th place on 7 points with 4 games played.

Vipers secured a crucial victory in the last fixture against Mbarara City FC at Kakyeka stadium while URA FC thumped Tooro United 6-1 at the Arena of Visions, Ndejje.

Team News:

Yunus Sentamu will miss tomorrow’s game as his still nursing an injury he sustained in our last week’s fixture against Mbarara City FC.

Apart from the longer term injuries, they are all in. No Lawrence Tezikya, No Umaru Kyebatala – the rest are available. A big squad of 18 players are available to face URA FC.
