Tuesday’s result

Vipers SC 1-0 Onduparaka

Team captain Halid Lwaliwa’s goal was the difference as we bounced back to winning ways in the 1-0 win over Onduparaka FC at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday afternoon.

The result, ensured by Lwaliwa’s intervention on the stroke of half time, brought coach Robertinho’s side to within three points of League table leaders KCCA FC, who could only draw 1-1 at Soltilo Bright Stars FC.

The match at Kitende also marked the return of our former striker Shaban Muhammad, who was released during the off-season after an unsuccessful spell, although there was no joy for him as he fired blanks.

Vipers were fresh from a 2-2 draw at Express FC coming into this game and needed the victory to stay in touch with KCCA.

The Venoms have now won three of their four games and sit second on 10 points, three behind KCCA FC, who have played a game more.

On their part, this was Onduparaka’s second successive defeat. They have now won once, lost twice and drawn as many in five games to sit 10th on just five points.

The Venoms will return to action after two weeks break with a trip to Kakyeka Stadium to play against Mbarara City FC on November 19.
