StarTimes Uganda Premier League

Police FC 0-2 Vipers SC

Milton Karisa and Cesar Manzoki were on the score sheet as we opened up our 2021/22 StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) season with a 2-0 victory over Police at MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo.

The Venoms, who had Robertinho Oliveira take charge of his first league game, went ahead towards the first half when Bright Anukani sought out Karisa, the forward half volleying home with verve.

Manzoki made sure of victory with his first of the season, completing Paul Willa’s good work on the right with a sweet sweep home.

For Police, it was double jeopardy as they lost captain Tony Mawejje to injury after being knocked down by our skipper Willa in a collision late on the second half.

Police started the game with promise in the second half but soon Vipers showed maturity in crucial moments to win the match.

Just at the restart of the second half, Manzoki uncharacteristically missed a chance to double his team’s lead off a perfect Anukani through ball which he failed to reach.

In the 72nd minute, substitute Karim Watambala almost stretched the lead beyond reach of the Cops after meeting with Bobosi Byaruhanga’s through ball but was disappointed to see his shot only miss by an inch.

Left back Aziz Kayondo was named Pilsner Man of Match, thanks to his endless marauding runs and defence that kept Police at bay.
