Now that the 2020/21 Stanbic Uganda Cup campaign is over and Vipers SC are champions, striker Cesar Manzoki, is delighted to look back on a successful season both for himself and for the Club.
Manzoki became the leading goalscorer with 7 goals in 8 games after netting a brace in our 8-1 Uganda Cup victory over BUL FC on Sunday at the Fufa Technical Centre.
For anyone to win the Golden Boot, it means that that player was the best goalscorer throughout the League or tournament, in terms of the most goals scored.
Speaking after our thumping triumph in Njeru, Manzoki discussed how proud he feels after reaching the milestone.
“As a striker there aren’t many individual awards you can win and this one shows you’ve had a good season throughout the whole campaign, that you’ve been a consistent performer,” Manzoki told Vipers Media in an interview.
“I’m really happy to have won it, especially in only my first full season in Ugandan football.”
“Even early on this season when I had just signed for Vipers SC, I was getting some criticism, so to then go on and win the top scorers gong shows I’ve had a great season.”
“It’s very pleasing for me to be able to answer those critics, but anyway I just concentrate on my own game, I know what I’m capable of and I’ve kept my confidence throughout.”
“I have to give a big thanks to the team, the staff and everyone at the club because without them I wouldn’t be able to achieve personal accolades like this.”
Along with thanking the team, the staff and everyone at the club, Manzoki made sure to give a shout out to his teammates as well for helping him in creating chances.
“Obviously a lot of thanks goes to them because I wouldn’t be scoring goals if they weren’t creating chances for me,” Manzoki continued. “We train day in, day out to achieve goals like this and they’ve been a big part of this award.”
