Marcelo Cardoso was in relaxed mood at Fufa House as he faced the media ahead of our Stanbic Uganda Cup semifinal clash with Police FC tomorrow (September 21) at Fufa technical center, Njeru.

Our assistant coach discussed Abdullah Mubiru’s team, fitness levels and the latest team news.

Read on for a full transcript of his press conference:

On working with Vipers SC and being in Uganda…

Happy to be part of the project. We wish to bring a little contribution to the improvement of Ugandan football. After 3 weeks of work we are happy and set for the encounter against Police.

On our fitness levels…

We are far from 100 percent fitness levels so far but with the dedication the players as are showing each day in training we believe we are ready to play against Police FC.

On the encounter against Police FC…

Players are working very hard and good improvement thus everything is going according to our plans. Police is traditional club with high expectations thus we expect a good show.

On the fans and their impact…

Obviously, with the news and the new guidelines given by the government it’s not looking very positive in the next few months and we have to bear in mind the situation we have in our society. We have to respect that and I think we’re all trying to create a safe environment. It’s in the interest of everybody. So, Vipers fans should keep safe and support their team from home. Safety, that’s the first aim, obviously we can get the fans back in here at a certain time, it will be great for football.

  1. Our expectations are high from you, the technical team.
Prove to us that this was not just a mere change of guards.
