Lawrence Tezikya has vowed to improve his Vipers performances in order to earn more game-time at the club.
The youngster has reflected on his debut campaign at St Mary’s Stadium, where he has made 10 appearances in all competitions.
He, however, only made his debut in Vipers’ 7-0 mauling of MYDA after being held back by injury suffered to his hand late last year (2020).
He came off the bench to create one of the goals, Ibrahim Orit’s scoring that.
He has since gone ahead to score two goals in the Uganda Cup against Busoga United and SC Villa and is optimistic his first league goal will soon come.
“I’m really happy with my first season at Vipers despite the stiff competition given the quality of players at the club but I’m sure that things will be even better as the season goes on,” he told the club website.
“Yes, I believe I’ve tried so far and can do even better.”
The youthful striker completed a move to Kitende from Busoga United in August 2020, and the transfer seemed to inspire fellow strikers Yunus Sentamu and Cesar Manzoki into producing more consistent form to keep Tezikya out of the starting eleven for most games.
With the season nearing the end and four games left to play in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL), the former Busoga United player is not only hopeful of winning his first silverware in his senior club career but is also eager to prove himself a regular Vipers starter, admitting he’s come a long way.
“Vipers like I said earlier has very good players and one must work hard to compete favorably. I have learnt a great deal, I’ve developed as a player and a person as well, especially from the time I finished school until now.”
