STARTIMES UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
The Match: Vipers SC v Mbarara City FC
Date: May 18, 2021
Time: 4pm
Venue: St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende

Reigning StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC would look to bounce back from their poor run at the St Mary’s stadium when they face Mbarara City FC in Kitende.

Vipers began the second round well with consecutive wins against Busoga United both in the league and Uganda Cup but suffered defeat against Express FC and went ahead to draw with Wakiso Giants FC, UPDF FC, and recently URA FC and would look to swiftly return to winning ways on Tuesday evening.

Mbarara City FC have on the other hand registered two wins in their last six league games. They have lost once and drawn thrice.

Fred Kajoba, Vipers head coach would be looking forward to organise his defence line which has quite often allowed the opponents to breach into the danger zone in the last four games.

“We have not been so good at home in the last two or so games going forward and defending. Our priority will be to win tomorrow. They are a good team, quite aggressive in their style of play but we have the quality in our squad. We must defend better and avoid leaking goals,” said the gaffer.

Yunus Sentamu, Paul Mucureezi and Cesar Manzoki have been the top performers for the Venoms this season, having scored 15, 10 and 8 goals respectively. The trio has shown immense strength and prowess, creating a lot of trouble for the opponents and can prove to be very threatening on their day. The coach and fans will hope tomorrow is their day to torment the Ankole Lions and carry Vipers forward.

The visitors subjected Vipers to their first defeat of the season in the reverse fixture at Kakyeka stadium thanks to Henry Kitegenyi’s strike. However, coach Livingstone Mbabazi will have to make the trip to Kitende without his lead striker who is suspended.

Former Vipers forward Bashir Mutanda is expected to lead the Mbarara City attack in the absence of Kitegenyi.
