Vipers SC and URA FC go into Wednesday’s StarTimes Uganda Premier League fixture with the league crown still on the line.
The Venoms trail the tax collectors by just a single point and know a victory will lift Fred Kajoba’s side to the table summit and also brighten their chances of retaining the title.
Should Vipers fail to win, then Sam Ssimbwa’s side will be favorites to win the league thus this encounter will be very crucial for the former hence must show up and also replicate the character they showed in their 2-1 win over rivals KCCA FC on Sunday.
URA FC won the corresponding fixture in March at the Arena of visions in Ndejje through Davis Ssali and Shafik Kagimu’s goals while the Venoms’ consolation goal was scored by Congolese import Cesar Manzoki.
Ssimbwa was in attendance at the MTN Omondi stadium on Sunday where he watched Vipers beat KCCA but his opposite us unfazed at all and says is confident the boys will handle their opponents well.
“The quality and character is in the squad we have showed since the league kicked off and it has helped us in many games. Now we have to show it even in the remaining games until the campaign is over.” explained Kajoba.
“All our matches are important, so we are not selecting which one is more vital and we are looking forward to playing them all.”
Team News:
Dan Sserunkuma resumed training in the gym as he continues to recover from a thigh injury. However, this fixture comes quite early for the striker.
Karim Watambala and Aziz Kayondo who missed the trip to the Arena of Visions for the first leg in March are all available for duty against the tax collectors.
The rest of the squad is in fine health and await selection for duty.
