Vipers’ hopes of progressing to the quarterfinals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup became more realistic following their furious comeback in the opening leg as they beat UPDF FC away in Bombo thanks to an own goal from Joseph Vuni, Ibrahim Orit and Cesar Manzoki.

The Venoms host the army side on Monday May, 3 boasting a 3-1 aggregate aiming to complete the job and enter the last eight, a stage they last reached over two years ago.

This contest will also help to lift the home side’s confidence especially as they seek a swift return to winning ways having failed to score and win at the St Mary’s Stadium in their last two games against Wakiso Giants FC and Express FC.

With a daunting host of matches lined up for Fred Kajoba’s side this month in the league, he may ring changes in his squad that will face UPDF FC.

Kisala’s search for a first win over Kajoba this season still remains elusive as the latter has thoroughly beaten him three times already across two competitions.
Vipers has subsequently scored seven goals in the process and conceded once in those meetings.

Team News:

Richard Basangwa overcame a knock he suffered last week and is expected to resume training with the rest of the team. The youthful forward will however not be a part of the match day squad.

Ahmed Amayo remains absent through injury while fellow defender Jacob Okao is back into the team after completing his Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education examinations last week.
