The Match: UPDF FC vs Vipers SC
Tournament: Uganda Cup Round 16 (First Leg)
Date: May 1st, 2021
Time: 4pm
Venue: Bombo Military grounds
Vipers SC travel to Bombo military grounds for the second time this season to face UPDF FC in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
Whilst they remained in the chase for the league trophy with a convincing 4-0 win over MYDA FC on Wednesday, the Venoms must shift their focus on the next task against another stubborn opponent UPDF FC whom they must overcome to progress to the quarterfinals and also keep their hopes of winning the Uganda Cup the second time alive.

The Venoms cruised to this stage following a 5-1 aggregate win over Busoga United FC while Kefa Kisala’s side had a slightly more challenging route against Fufa Big League side Arua Hills which beat them in Arua before the army side rallied all its efforts and dumped them out in the return leg in Bombo.
Surely, Kisala would not like to go through the same feat against the Venoms hence the visitors should expect a stern test on Saturday evening.

The Venoms gaffer is equally aware that if his side is to win a double this campaign then this encounter must not be taken lightly.
“We cannot afford to make mistakes because the nature of this competition leaves us with not many choices. We face a fellow league side that proved stubborn in our first meeting this season so the only way to progress to the next round is knock them out and it’s what we will be looking for,” Fred Kajoba emphasized.

A win for the visitors will boast their confidence before the two sides lock horns in the return leg on Monday evening at the St Mary’s Stadium to determine who progresses to the quarterfinals.
Team News:
Our last visit to Bombo earlier in April saw us travel minus striker Yunus Sentamu who was suspended after accumulating three cards in the league.
The forward is available and will lead the striking line for Fred Kajoba’s side.
Fabien Mutombora is back as well as Abraham Ndugwa and could be selected to play.
Siraje Sentamu is still out nursing injury hence is out of the squad that will travel to Bombo.
