It’s been a busy week for Vipers SC just like it is for Kitara FC as they meet in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, just two days after their previous games. There is no resting in this case.

Vipers are slowly improving their performance away from home – they recently picked three points comfortably off UPDF FC away in Bombo, thumping the army side 3-0.

Their opponents, on the other hand, have been struggling in the league this season as they are bottom of the table with only five points after 17 matches.

They lost their previous match 2-1 to Onduparaka FC in Arua and it will take something special to secure victory against the reigning champions on Friday evening at the Masindi Municipal Stadium.

This will be Kitara’s first home game in Masindi after being cleared to host their league games in Masindi by the local football governing body, Fufa, a few weeks ago and will be eager to excite their home fans.

They were previously using Kavumba Recreation grounds in Wakiso in the first round as their home ground.

Kitara v Vipers: Head-To-Head

Fred Kajoba’s side head into the match as favourites having won all in their last two meetings in all competitions. The hosts lost 3-1 and 2-1 to Vipers before in the Uganda Cup (2016/17) and league respectively.

In fact the Kitende side will be seeking a double over the new comers but the head coach has warned his charges to be wary of the hosts.

The caution is understandable after Vipers laboured to beat them 2-1 in the reverse fixture played at the St Mary’s Stadium on December 16, 2020.

“They have something to fight for, and so the danger we are facing is that they are playing with an objective.” explained Kajoba.

“They can attack and have been able to score goals in their games, and for us it is important to remain calm, keep our shape and composure.”

Team News:

Ibrahim Orit makes a return to the team after sitting out of the 4-0 win over Busoga United FC on Tuesday through suspension. The midfielder has been in good form scoring four goals and providing four since joining from Mbarara City FC.

Milton Karisa netted on his return and will be named to face Kitara.

Fabien Mutombora begins his three-match suspension after he was shown a post-match red card by referee Ali Kaddu Kizza for unsporting behaviour.
