STARTIMES UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
Friday’s Result
UPDF FC 0-3 Vipers SC

Cesar Manzoki scored twice in a dominant team display as we eased past UPDF FC to maintain our recent resurgence.

It was only two months ago that we had found it tough going to break down UPDF in the first round, and they remained obdurate opponents in the opening 14 minutes.

But we cut loose, with Paul Mucureezi opening the scoring, before Manzoki added our second and wrapped things up near the end after good work from Abraham Ndugwa.

Having been frustrated last time by the army side, though eventually won 1-0 in the first round, we were keen not to put up the same performance. We found chances limited during the early knockings – although Richard Basangwa came close with an effort that went inches wide.

UPDF offered little attacking threat but remained tough to break down, with Disan Galiwango poking one shot wide from outside the area in Position A1 and then seeing Basangwa missing a one on one situation.

But minutes later we had the breakthrough when we were awarded a penalty after UPDF’s Sam Kintu held the ball in the forbidden area and Mucureezi put it past the goalkeeper to give us the lead.

We doubled our advantage shortly afterwards when Manzoki – enjoying another fine game – entered the area, tied up his marker in knots to strike home in a sole effort.

We remained in total control and added a third 9 minutes before the end when Ndugwa did well to get to the byeline and cut it over for Manzoki to head home beyond goalkeeper Eric Kibowa.

That sealed the three points and a thoroughly satisfactory victory for Fred Kajoba’s side.
