Vipers SC will be eager to continue improving their away performance when they visit Mbarara City FC at Kakyeka stadium on Saturday March 6.
The engagement is coming at a breakneck pace as we wind up the first round of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, with teams playing a game after two or three days.
Mbarara City FC who come into this game after losing 3-1 to Police FC away in Kampala earlier on Wednesday must quickly turn attention to yet a bigger task involving the reigning champions who are yet to lose a match.
The Ankole Lions have typically been mired in the lower mid-table fight for sometime this season, though relegation looks like a highly unlikely prospect.
They have only won two games in 11 but their home record is more worrying; they have won once at Kakyeka, lost one and drawn three times.
On the other hand Vipers’ last outing ended in a 3-1 win over Onduparaka FC so Fred Kajoba’s notes are still fresh and could borrow and unleash some for Saturday’s encounter.
“I am confident we are becoming a better team especially the way we play away. There is a huge change since the game in Njeru last month.
The way we attack causes problems for teams while our defence is not letting in many goals as well. we hope we can maintain this momentum even in Mbarara”
Upon return from Mbarara, Vipers will host SC Villa next Wednesday, March 10 at the St Mary’s stadium in a penultimate clash.
Team News:
Ibrahim Orit and Paul Mucureezi return to a familiar ground to face their former pay masters.
The former joined last July and will play against the Ankole Lions for the very first time since leaving them.
Disan Galiwango is suspended after accumulating three yellow cards but the left back will be available against SC Villa next week.
Denis Kiggundu is still out despite making a huge improvement in his recovery from a knee injury.
Milton Karisa will be available for the last two games against URA and KCCA after resuming training.
