STARTIMES UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE

Tuesdays Result

Vipers SC 1-0 BUL FC

Our status at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table was maintained on Matchday nine (9) after a home win over BUL FC on Tuesday.

Despite the visitors being a tough opponent, their resilience was finally broken towards the end of the game thanks to Yunus Sentamu’s goal.

The lethal forward moved at the back post to node home from Paul Mucureezi’s fine delivery, six minutes to time.

The win meant we remained top of the log on 21 points in nine games with our next outing away to Onduparaka FC over the weekend.

Coach Fred Kajoba made just one change from the team that had won against Police FC in our previous game. Jamil Kalisa started ahead of David Bagoole.

From onset, the boys showed character and composure, dominating proceedings and making several attempts.

The closest in the first half was Sentamu’s well taken free kick at the half hour mark that was put out by BUL FC goalkeeper Abdul Kimera.

With the visitors playing a cautious game, it became more frustrating for us as BUL FC opted to defend in numbers.

In a bid to unlock them, the gaffer made several interventions, first bringing on Mucureezi for Kalisa at the start of the second half.

There were further changes with Cesar Manzoki and Dan Sserunkuma replacing Muhammad Shaban and Karim Watambala respectively.

Mucureezi nearly fired us into the lead in the 70th minute but his effort ricocheted off thé upright crossbar and Manzoki failed to burry home from the rebound.

Bagoole came on for Ibrahim Orit in the closing stages of the game while the other change saw Livingstone Mulondo replace the injured Disan Galiwango.

The decisive moment came in the 84th minute when Mucureezi’s well weighed cross found Sentamu unmarked on the blind side to head home.

The Venoms will return to action on Saturday against Onduparaka FC in Arua.
