Tuesday’s Result
Kyetume FC 2-2 Vipers SC
Vipers SC had to rally back on two occasions to salvage a point away against Kyetume FC on Tuesday at the Fufa Technical Center.
The boys showed fighting spirit and did not lose hope every time they trailed and fought to earn a point in a two-all draw.
The result ensured our unbeaten run this season was kept intact thanks to a late free kick by Yunus Sentamu.
The hosts had gotten an early lead through Yusuf Ssaka beating goalkeeper Denis Kiggundu at the near post in the 13th minute.
Paul Mucureezi who is the team’s top scorer this season with six goals levelled matters eight minutes later.
He capitalized on a mistake by Kyetume’s goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa who failed to deal with Paul Willa’s cross and instead spilled the ball to Mucureezi.
The goal came in a scrambling manner and it took confirmation of the referee to award it to Mucureezi. Initially, the goal had been credited to Sentamu.
Kyetume restored their lead four minutes upon restart through Richard Matovu. This prompted the coach to make changes introducing Muhammed Shaban, Abraham Ndugwa and Ceasor Manzoki before a late forced change when Rashid Toha limped out for Bashir Asiku following an ham-string injury.
The fighting spirit was evident from the boys as they threw the kitchen sink at Kyetume in search for the equaliser.
Sentamu’s free kick deflected off the man wall and found itself into the back of the net for our second goal.
Efforts to find the winner were futile despite throwing more bodies upfront and making several inroads.
Our next game will be at home against Police FC who lead the table on 16 points, just a point above us.
