STARTIMES UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
Date: February, 16, 2021
Venue: Fufa Technical Center, Njeru
Time: 4pm
Vipers will seek to consolidate their place on top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table for the first time since the start of the season when they visit Kyetume FC away at the Fufa technical center in Njeru on Tuesday.
Busoga United will play Bright Stars at noon before Kyetume lock horns with Fred Kajoba’s side at 4pm.
The Venoms have been in good form, winning four games and drawing twice from 6 games so far since the start of the 2020/21 campaign.
The Kitende side is currently has 14 points and a win will see them move to 17 points and keep them on the summit of the 16 team log.
On the other end, the Slaughters were unbeaten until Police FC condemned them to their first defeat (3-1) last Friday and remain on 9 points. They have managed two wins, 3 draws and a loss.
All their victories have been registered at home and will be tested by the Venoms whose last visit at the technical center saw them pick a comprehensive 5-3 win over Busoga United last December.
The two teams will be meeting for the third time with the reigning champions victors in the previous two meetings, beating Kyetume 2-1 and 1-0 at Namboole and St Mary’s stadium respectively.
Vipers come into this game with confidence having picked a much needed victory over a hard fighting UPDF FC side last Saturday but are aware maintaining their run must come with another real fight against a Kyetume side that has not lost at home.
“This game is as important as other games for us, we have to keep focused and also play with determination and hope for the best. There is still a long way to go but we are taking one game at a time until we get there,” explained Halid Lwaliwa, the Vipers SC skipper.
“We had quite a slow start into the previous game but we have since put a few things together and hope to approach this one differently.”
Team News:
Muhammad Shaban is back having missed the last 3 matches since returning from Cameroon with the Uganda Cranes. The striker is expected to make the match day squad.
Milton Karisa remains absent with a thigh injury but will resume training a few days from now.
