Vipers are seeking to maintain their near-perfect start to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League season when they host another exciting team Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) FC this Saturday at the St Mary’s stadium.

A solitary goal from youngster Karim Watambala was enough for Fred Kajoba’s side to pick a point off Express FC earlier on Tuesday this week while the Venoms have gone five games unbeaten. They have won three and drawn two amassing 11 points.

The hosts are hoping to return to their winning ways when they face the army side. The former had a resounding 7-0 victory over MYDA FC in their last home  game with Yunus Sentamu and Paul Mucureezi netting a brace while Ceasar Manzoki, Ibrahim Orit and Disan Galiwango added one a piece.

This encounter also provides a chance for the reigning champions to dislodge the early season pacesetters, now second on 12 points, one behind leaders Police FC.

For Kefa Kisala, his team’s resolve will be immensely tested despite having had a good start since returning to the top flight this season. His side has lost just one of the five matches played and have conceded three goals the second fewest number after Police FC who have let in three.

The visitors will however have to double their effort playing against the best attacking side in the league so far.

They will have to make it without their lead striker Brian Kalumba who can’t face his parent club as per the loan regulations.

Ex-Vipers striker Dickens Okwir, Brian Kayanja and Ezekiel Katende will be tasked to take the team forward. For Kajoba, he will have a selection headache because all his forwards are readily available for duty.
