Saturday’s Result
Vipers SC 7-0 MYDA FC
Vipers put up a magical display at the St.Mary’s Stadium on Saturday, obliterating new comers MYDA FC to close in on the leading pack.
With the League resuming after nearly a two-month break, the Venoms were in ruthless form, winning the game 7-0.
This is one of the two games in hand for us having played only three before the league was halted in December last year.
Debutant Yunus Ssentamu who was returning for his second stint netted a brace (our first two goals on the day), Pau Mucureezi also scored twice while Caesar Manzoki, Ibrahim Orit and Disan Galiwango added a goal a piece.
Victory elevates us to third place on 10 points in four games with our next fixture away to Express FC coming up on Tuesday next week.
Coach Fred Kajoba made changes including Sentamu starting upfront alongside Mucureezi and Manzoki.
Dennis Kiggundu started in goal ahead of Fabien Mutombora, Livingstone Mulondo partnered skipper Halid Lwaliwa at the heart of defence with Galiwango and Joseph Dhata playing as fullbacks.
The three-man midfield had Siraje Sentamu, Allan Kayiwa and David Bagoole.
Sentamu took no time to announce his home coming, firing us into an early lead, just ten minutes after kickoff. He did so in style with an acrobat kick.
Five minutes later, Sentamu nearly doubled our lead when he cut inside the area but his effort was denied by MYDA’s goalkeeper Isaac Osikou.
Denying him was just a matter of time because he got onto the score sheet again in the 28th minute.
The Venoms remained relentless, making several in roads and indeed scored more two goals before the break.
Manzoki headed home in the 38th minute before Mucureezi put the icing on the cake in what was a superb first half display with a brilliant strike at the death of the clock.
The second stanza was about perfecting what we had done well earlier on with three more goals scored.
Manzoki turned creator in the 55th minute, setting up Mucureezi for his second on the day and the team’s fifth.
The gaffer called for changes after the hour mark bringing on Ibrahim Orit and new signing Lawrence Tezikya for Mucureezi and Sentamu respectively.
There were further changes later on with Musa Ssali and Abraham Ndugwa also coming on in places of Siraje Sentamu and Manzoki.
Galiwango scored the sixth, his first at the club in the 84th minute before Orit closed the scoring bonanza towards the end of the game.
Starting XI:- Denis Kiggundu, Joseph Dhata, Disan Galiwango, Halid Lwaliwa, Livingstone Mulondo, Siraje Sentamu (Musa Ssali 76′), David Bagoole, Paul Mucureezi (Ibrahim Orit 61′), Cesar Manzoki (Abraham Ndugwa 76′), Yunus Sentamu (Lawrence Tezikya 61′), Allan Kayiwa (Denis Mwemezi 64′).
