St Mary’s Stadium – Kitende will witness league action for the first time this season when the reigning champions host new comers Kitara football club on Wednesday, December 16, 2020.

This will be the first time that the Venoms will be tackling their new opponents in the league. The first time they met was in the Uganda Cup in 2017 and Vipers went on to eliminate Kitara FC 3-1 away in Hoima. However, the two sides will renew acquaintances and write a new chapter in the league history.

Vipers, after drawing 1-1 with Wakiso Giants away at the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium, will be aiming for their first win of the 2020/21 season infront of their expectant fans.

Head coach Fred Kajoba will hope his side can be more ruthless in finishing off their opponents. Especially after what happened in the previous game when Vipers allowed Viane Ssekajugo to score from close range, denying the Venoms a hard-fought victory as the match finished all square.

Muhammad Shaban will most likely lead the attack line as he seeks to continue scoring having officially opened his goal account and announcing his return in style against the Purple Sharks.

The striker missed out the whole 2019/2020 football campaign with a nagging knee injury but is back following a successful surgery.

Kajoba will hope the former Raja Casablanca player will fire Vipers to their first three (3) points of the new campaign.

Kitara FC, however, will view this game as an uphill task particularly coming after their 5-0 home loss to Police overtheweekend. The Hoima based outfit is yet to win a game from their 3 encounters.
They drew with Kyetume before being humiliated by fellow new entrants UPDF in Kavumba and have conceded 11 goals, netting just twice.

Therefore the visitors will need a miracle to pull off an unlikely result in Kitende and get their campaign up and running.

Meanwhile, there will be a return of fans to St Mary’s Stadium – albeit just 200 ticket card holders to start with.

Team News:

Allan Kayiwa resumed training with the rest of the team this week. The midfielder missed the trips to Khartoum and Wakiso with a fever.

Rashid Toha was granted compassionate leave following the loss of his sister hence will be out for a few days.
