Vipers Sports Club’s new season squad continues to take shape with yet another important addition in South Sudanese Joseph Dhata who has signed a four-year contract.
The youthful right full back agreed terms with the Venoms after receiving his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) from the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) and becomes the latest acquisition after the arrival of David Bagoole, Ibrahim Orit, Disan Galiwango and Jamil Kaliisa.
Exciting attributes
Dhata, a South Sudan international, was the skipper of Buddo Secondary School in 2019 and also helped them win the National Post Primary Championship and East Africa Secondary Schools Football Tournament in 2018.
The new signing who has been training with us since last season possesses several exciting attributes including; good crosses, acceleration, dribbling, tackling, stamina and excellent game reading that make him exceptional and the right piece to complete Vipers puzzle.
“I am very happy about this day as it has offered me a new step forward,” said the ever-smiling youngster.
“The important thing is to grab this chance and use it wisely to build my career and also help my team to win games and silverware.”
Childhood reunion
The signing of Dhata will see the player reunited with his childhood friends; Ahmed Amayo and Rashid Toha.
“I am home. All my friends are here. So everything is well. However, I know what is expected of me. The competition for numbers at Vipers is what motivates me more,” added the new signing.
Dhata is expected to give Paul Willa competition at the right back position while his arrival also gives coach Fred Kajoba depth and strength in the defence department as he prepares to embark on what is expected to be a highly competitive campaign starting next month.
Kajoba describes Dhata as a ‘fearless and efficient player’ who he is confident will be a huge success at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
“He is humble, hardworking, determined and most importantly young. We are happy to have him and believe many out there will like what he offers,” said the Venoms tactician.
