Vipers Sports Club has strengthened its coaching set-up to ensure Head Coach Fred Kajoba has an adept backroom staff ahead of the forthcoming 2020-2021 footballing season.

The dynamic pair of Paul Kiwanuka and Francis Mugerwa have been confirmed as the new assistants.

Assistant coach Paul Kiwanuka being unveiled by club chairman George Mulindwa.

Reunion excitement

Kiwanuka previously in charge of topflight side Bright Stars FC will assume the role of Kajoba’s right-hand man looking to draw upon the experience garnered during the time when the pair worked seamlessly together at the Mwererwe-based club.

Paul Kiwanuka puts pen to paper as George Mulindwa looks on.

“I am excited to be joining Vipers and for the chance to work with Kajoba again. It is an opportunity I couldn’t let up. I would like to thank Vipers management for giving me this chance and l know that our skills and experience will complement each other as we work to develop an exciting new team,” responded Kiwanuka when asked how he felt after joining the Venoms.

Talking the game

Mugerwa joins from Maroons FC where he worked under Douglas Bamweyana after previous stints at Onduparaka and Bright Stars where he interestingly teamed up with both Kajoba and Kiwanuka at different intervals.

“I am a man of few words who prefers doing the talking on the pitch but l feel proud and honoured to reunite and work closely with the two coaches plus the other staff at Vipers,” said Mugerwa.

With a restructured squad and a few fresh faces on the coaching panel, its imperative everything aligns for Vipers quickly as the club embarks on what has been labeled as a demanding season.

Leaving no to chance

Kajoba has been decisive in both the recruitment of players and the figures he wants to surround him moving forward, with the club administrators clearly giving the full backing to his choices.

“I am delighted to have this talented group of coaches alongside me. They bring a great mix of experience and fresh thinking,” Kajoba said.
