Ibrahim Orit is confident of repaying Vipers Sports Club’s faith in him after the Soroti-born attacking midfielder agreed to a deal to a switch from Mbarara City’s Ankole Lions to the Venoms last Thursday.
The club’s second signing in the transfer window revealed how Vipers first approached him at the start of the 2018/19 season but negotiations fell through then.

Orit also expressed his appreciation to coach Fred Kajoba as a fatherly and respected figure during the few times he had previously worked with the gaffer at Uganda Cranes.
Soon after his unveiling, Orit sat down with the club media for the first official interview and there was a recurring theme during the chat, the desire to pay back Vipers for their trust in him.
Welcome to Vipers Sports Club, how happy are you to have this deal done?
I am extremely happy to be here as it has always been my dream to play for Vipers. It’s a big club with talented players and a fantastic coach.
You had other options, so why is Vipers the right club for you?
In life of a footballer, you always want to play at the biggest stage, a year ago I wanted to come but it didn’t happen and now that I am here, I want to improve myself too on top of winning titles for the club.
Where you always hopeful that this deal would happen after the first time it didn’t?
I was disappointed when it didn’t happen. But it was my motivation as it pushed me to work harder. I know my former club still loves me but now that I am here, I cannot wait to get started.
When you first found out that Vipers wanted to sign you, what was your reaction like?
Being a believer, I first prayed to Allah, the most merciful, to make it happen since it was my dream as well.
What can Vipers fans expect from you as a professional?
I know they rate me highly after my good times with Mbarara City. Therefore I will do my best to keep up the standards and make them happy.
What do you hope to achieve during your time at Vipers?
Vipers is a winning team and joining when they’re champions, brings another dimension. Therefore, I won’t rest on my laurels as I have to continue with the team’s winning mentality. Further to that, I am eyeing a professional career after Vipers.
How much are you looking forward to working under Fred Kajoba?
He is a good coach who at times takes it to the level of acting as a father and I have already experienced it with him at the national team. I expect a good working relationship with him here at Vipers.
Finally for Vipers fans reading this interview, what’s your message to them?
Sincerely, football cannot be enjoyable without fans hence their involvement is very key. In that regard, I promise to work very hard to always make them happy.
