STARTIMES UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE

The Date: March 6, 2020

The Contest: Wakiso Giants vs. Vipers

The Time: 4:00pm

The Venue: Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Wakisha

The numbers game is alive as the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) navigates through its business bend.

For Vipers, we will be looking to make the numbers count as we travel away for a date against mid-table placed Wakiso Giants at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakisha on Friday March 6, 2020.

Following KCCA’s failure to get the better Proline earlier this week on Tuesday when both sides shared the spoils in the Lugogo derby, coach Fred Kajoba will demand nothing from the Venoms other than doubling their lead tally from three to six points.

On the look of things, Vipers will not let this chance slip with KCCA having played a fixture more. Good thing, though, is that Kajoba’s brigade will not need any extra motivation for the clash if their 5-0 whitewash of Maroons in their last topflight league encounter is anything to go by.

The urge to win to win their last fixture before the league breaks off for the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) tournament, will be the driving factor.

During the first round fixture, Fahad Bayo scored the lone goal as Vipers edged past Wakiso Giants at the St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende and completing a season double over the SUPL’s newbies will be key as we continue our title pursuit.

Head to head

Going by the recent performances between the two sides, the hosts have never beaten the Venoms in a competitive game. They will be seeking one over their ‘silent nemesis’ whereas it will be all about consistency for title-hungry Vipers.

Below is how both sides have fared recently;

Wakiso Giants last 4 matches;

Tooro United 2 – 1 Wakiso Giants

Wakiso Giants 2 – 1 Maroons

Wakiso Giants 1 – 1 Kyetume

Busoga United 1 – 0 Wakiso Giants

Vipers last 4 matches;

BUL 2 – 3 Vipers

Vipers 0 – 0 KCCA

URA 3 – 1 Vipers

Vipers 5 – 0 Maroons

Team news

Club captain Halid Lwaliwa remains a major doubt as he is still injured following an unfortunate knock he endured during the barren stalemate with KCCA last month.

Farouk Musisi resumed full training with the team on Monday but will have to wait for clearance from our team doctor Mathius Kasagga.

But coach Kajoba will literally have a full strength side to pick from the starting XI.
