Eight of our players have been summoned for National team duty ahead of the 2020 Championship of African Nations (CHAN).

The eight players are part of Uganda Cranes 34-man provisional squad that was summoned by coach Jonathan McKinstry on Thursday.

Our skipper Halid Lwaliwa who captained Uganda to winning the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup last year leads the Venoms’ contingent.

He is joined by right back Paul Willa and utility player Geofrey Wasswa who returns to the National team fold after fully recovering from an injury that had sidelined him for close to seven months.

Striker Fahad Bayo has been a mainstay in the Cranes team set up in the recent engagements also returns while Steven Mukwala (on loan at Maroons FC) got a call as well.

Youngster Karim Watambala makes the cut and he is joined by our new signing Paul Mucureezi and returnee Milton Karisa who was very instrumental in our 5-0 win over Maroons FC yesterday.

Uganda is in group C alongside neighbours Rwanda, defending champions Morocco and Togo. The tournament is expected to start in April in Cameroon.
