STARTIMES UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE
Fixture: URA FC v Vipers SC
Date: February 21, 2020
Time: 4pm, Live on Sanyuka TV
Venue: Arena of Visions, Ndejje
It is time for Vipers Sports Club to bury the initiative.
Following a barren draw with KCCA FC at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday, Vipers now know that the onus is on them to turn the two-team title race into theirs.
But first things first, the Venoms must get back to winning ways first and very fast in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) when they exchange pleasantries with URA FC at scenic Arena of Visions ground in Ndejje.
The hosts will be looking for answers coming into this tie after their 12 match unbeaten run was halted by 10-man Busoga United earlier this week.
The Venoms will be anxious to pounce and rub more salt onto the tax collectors’ wounds in Friday (February 21)’s topflight clash.
Victory will take the lead to an assailable 8-point lead in the SUPL whereas a draw shall complicate the equation a little bit with defeat for us renewing the challengers title interests.
Unfavourable record
Despite not having the best record against URA at their home where we have registered just 3 wins, 8 draws and 4 losses, coach Fred Kajoba is optimistic his side has all it takes to get the needed results against URA.
“This is a good challenge for us,” stated Kajoba.”We face a good side and such games always bring the best out of everyone.”
“I believe in my players. They have the mental strength, quality and nerve required to breakdown difficult opposition. We’re targeting to win the title and that’s our only target. We’re fighting for it every day. And our desire for it, will drive us to perform better,” opined the inspirational Kajoba.
Back in the mix
Fahd Bayo missed the 1-0 win in the first leg at Kitende while on national duty with the Uganda Cranes. Likewise, Burundi international goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora was on duty away in Bujumbura during the reverse fixture. The duo is available and will most likely be drafted into the Starting XI.
Team News:
Aziz Kayondo returns to the team after serving his one-match suspension having accumulated three yellow cards.
Geoffrey Wasswa was deployed at left back in the draw with KCCA but Kayondo’s return boosts Fred Kajoba’s defense options with Halid Lwaliwa out of this fixture with a swollen toe.
Tito Okello was forced off the previous game after picking a head injury thus this game comes a little too early for him. He will instead be available for the next fixture against Luzira Prisons-based Maroons next week.
The dynamic pair of Umar Kyebatala and Abraham Ndugwa could make the match day squad after missing the last game.
