Bul 2-3 Vipers

(30’ Fredson Gwoto, 33’ Robert Mukogotya)

(19’ 28’ 73’ Tito Okello)

Tito Okello named Man of Match.

We have our second win of the Fred Kajoba era thanks to a determined, energetic performance from the Venoms.

Tito Okello’s maiden hattrick helped us restore our five point advantage on top of the 16-team log after registering a hard fought 3-2 victory over BUL FC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) at the Fufa Technical Centre this evening.

With our close rivals KCCA FC winning against Maroons FC on Tuesday, they cut our lead to two points and we knew nothing less than a win would replenish our advantage again.

Kajoba made three changes to the line-up that faced Onduparaka FC with Aziz Kayondo bouncing back to replace the injured Farouk Musisi, Brian Nkuubi for Karim Watambala while Tito Okello for the suspended Fahad Bayo.

We showed early intent from the kick off whistle with Nkuubi getting his shot collected well by goalkeeper Sanon Mulabi in the third minute while Bobosi Byaruhanga’s effort from a long range fell into Mulabi’s gloves.

Our early period of dominance did pay off in the 18th minute when Bul’s defender Denis Okot couldn’t let Okello free inside the area, with the forward stepping up to convert the resultant penalty.

Okello doubled our lead 10 minutes later, lobbing over Mulabi after Fabien Mutombora’s long ball caught out the BUL defence.

Our two goal cushion was cut short in the 30th minute when Fredson Gwoto pulled one for the hosts. Bul later levelled matters three minutes later, capitalizing on an error by midfielder Rahmat Senfuka whose back pass was intercepted by Simon Oketch, with the latter setting up Robert Mukongotya to tap home.

With the game seemingly headed for a draw, Okello produced the decisive moment of the game, completing his first ever hat trick for the club with a sublime finish in the 73rd minute thanks to Dan Sserunkuma’s donkey work in the 18 yard box.

We turn our focus on our rivals KCCA, at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday, February 18.
