It’s official!!! Paul Mucureezi is now a Vipers SC player.
The Cranes international completed his move from Mbarara City FC as a free agent becoming Edward Golola’s first signing of the January transfer window.
Mucureezi will wear the no.14 shirt for the Venoms as our remaining half of the football season campaign gets underway next week on Friday.
We sat down with the 27-year-old midfielder at Kitende for an exclusive first interview, in which he describes his feelings about moving to St Mary’s Stadium, explains his experience of playing against Vipers and gives a message to the supporters.
Mucureezi, welcome to Vipers SC. How does it feel to become a Venom?
Thank you for the warm welcome. But go me it’s like am coming back home having been here before as a student at St Mary’s Kitende. Truth, it feels good joining Vipers SC because it’s the best club in the country and not forgetting that its the best facilitated club as well.
When you were growing up, what sort of things were you trying to develop in your game and were there any players in particular you looked up to?
When I was growing up, I tried to improve on my speed after noticing that am so fast plus improving on my finishing at goal. I looked up to many players, one by the names of Kadoi way back in kabale. I was then inspired by the way Thierry Henry was playing and l really loved watching him score. And then a one Javier Hernandez ‘Chicharito’ came in at Manchester United and he made me love the shirt number 14 up todate.
You have played against Vipers before so what was it like to play against Halid Lwaliwa, Bashir Asiku and everybody else?
Have played against Vipers SC and it has good quality players but has defenders who have always been giving me a challenge to break not forgetting the good goalkeepers.
How would you describe your game to a fan who perhaps hasn’t seen you play?
Any fan who hasn’t seen me play should atleast know that am a person who adds speed on the attack of the team in all forward positions and creates goals.
Have you had the chance to have many conversations with Coach Edward Golola yet, about his plans for you going forward?
I have met both coaches; Richard Wasswa and Edward Golola before and the discussion was a good one for the club. And having been one of there player way back at St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School – Kitende, l believe they know my capabality.
Finally, do you have a message for the fans who are excited to see you play for Vipers?
To all the Vipers SC fans, I would love to say; thank you for the good reception you have shown to me and l promise you the best for the club. I will do the best to make Vipers be at the top. May God richly bless you all. And a happy and joyous 2020.
