Halid Lwaliwa, Paul Willa and Allan Kayiwa have been named in the Fufa Best XI 2019.
The Vipers SC trio was selected for the prestigious honour at an awards ceremony at Speke Resort, Munyonyo last evening. Willa and Kayiwa enjoyed an impressive 2018 at their former clubs, Police FC and Tooro United FC respectively and a good half 2019/20 campaign for the Venoms so far.
For Halid, it’s yet another huge personal honour after the overall quality of his performances at club level last season. The defender maintained the high standards which he had set in his maiden campaign at St Mary’s Stadium, with his energy, calmness and technical quality pivotal in the back of our defence.
Halid said: “It means a lot. We did well with Vipers even though missed out on winning the title but I’m really happy to receive this award for the second time and I’m looking forward to more good seasons in the future.”
Kayiwa, who has started the current season in fine form with the Venoms, performed well for Tooro United FC last season. The midfielder produced a string of standout display for his former team that named him the best player of the season before he joined us in July this year.
Like Halid, Kayiwa was delighted to be selected in the side.
“It’s great to be a part of this team,’” he said. “It’s something I couldn’t have imagined because all of them are top players so just to be with them is something special.”
“When you have this feeling you want more and I hope this season is going to be the same, we will work for that.”
